Lancing 2
Michael Hemsley (1)
Lee Garnham (1)
Bexhill United 2

Lancing welcomed back the spectators with a new team on and off the pitch. Some unfamiliar faces playing. With Jason Rutherford and Jason Tighe joining Martin Gander and Kevin Ford on the sidelines. We hope they all enjoy their time at Lancing Football Club.

The season started with newly promoted Bexhill Utd visiting Culver Road.

The game ended level 2-2.

Lancing started the brighter and played some good football on the brilliant new surface.
Missing a few early chances. Lee Garnham heading over the bar twice, Chris Hibberd missing twice when well placed. Dan Turner going close on occasions.
Eventually Lancing took the lead on 25 minutes when Hibberd put the ball into the area and Garnham went in with the keeper getting his head to the ball first. Possibly his hardest chance. 1-0. At the time Lancing were in control, but they couldn't get the required 2nd goal. Bexhill got back into the game and their target man White hit a great strike from fully 30 yards out to level the score. 1-1 Half time.

Again Lancing started the brighter in the 2nd half kicking into the wind. Winning a corner delivered by Hibberd and met by the head of Hemsley, to score on his debut. 2-1.
Again Lancing went in search of a goal to kill off their oppenents but could not find the killer finish.
Bexhill were still very much in the game and equalised for the second time when Matt Evans spilled a cross under pressure and the ball was forced home to make it 2-2.
In the last 5 minutes Lancing had a couple of opportunities to take the spoils. Wayne Joseph and James Wotherspoon both going close. But it wasn't to be.

Lancing with a much changed side from last season with 10 new faces on the pitch and 4 on the bench might take a while to gel. The first time playing together at home. The ground certainly looked in fantastic condition that will certainly have given Bexhill a lift before the game. Something that the home team will have to get used to.

A point gained or 2 dropped, after another 33 games we might find out.

East Preston are next up when they visit Tuesday evening.
