“What a great weekend of results!”
It was a great weekend for the Lancers as all 3 of our squads recorded victories over the 2 days, taking away 9/9 points from their league fixtures. That's 4/4 if you include our Ladies automatic 3 points!
The First Team, Under-18 County and Under-18 Development squads recorded wins, whilst the Ladies were awarded the 3 points as Rustington Raiders could not field a side.
Pulling's side looked to make it 2 out of 2 wins ahead of Saturday afternoon's fixture, away at Eastbourne United. After a solid performance, Matt Daniel's second-half brace was enough to secure the points in the Lancers 1-0 victory at The Oval.
Match Report & Commentary
The County side were away at the Colwell Ground on Sunday morning, in their SCFL fixture away at St Francis Rangers. A competitive game, with DFS introducing some more younger players into the side throughout the course of the match, as the Under-18 side claimed a convincing 3-0 win against their opponents.
Mike Richards' Under-18 Development squad were keen to record a victory in their ultimate fixture of the season in the Arun & Chichester Youth Football League.
Despite going 1-0 down home to Littlehampton Town, the side dug deep and proved their worth, netting 4 and securing the 4-1 victory. A massive well done to the Under-18s for winning the league!
Focus for the lads turns to Wednesday night's cup final fixture, as they take on local rivals, Lancing Rangers. Kick-off is 7:45pm at Mill Road, home of Arundel FC. Can they do the double?!
Under-18 Development Fixtures
After Rustington Raiders couldn't raise a team ahead of Sunday afternoon's Mothers Day fixture, Downer's side accumulate another 3 points in the Ladies league.
Focus now turns to Sunday, where they host 4th place, Barnham Trojans at Culer Road, 2pm kick-off.
Chairman, Steve Taylor, said "What a great weekend of results! 1st team winning 1-0 away to Eastbourne United, our County U18s winning 3-0 away to St Francis and this afternoon our Arun & Chi U18s winning 4-1 against Littlehampton to become league champions!! Well done to the lads and to Daniel, Mike and James."
A great weekend for the club, ahead of a busy week of home games coming up next week.
